For Times When You Go From 100-0 And You Can't Explain It.

This post title is quite a mouthful simply because I couldn't find something else to describe how I felt the day I wrote this. I've been in this situation more times than I can remember. It's always exhausting and annoying. I'll be gay, exuberant and then SNAP! I'm feeling down, irritated at nothing in particular and the rest of the day becomes gloomy. No, it ain't mood swing. Or is it? The most annoying thing about this predicament is when people start asking what's wrong and I can't come up with something genuine.
The occurrence that prompted this post was the most 'interesting' one ever. Here's the detail.

I was having an almost perfect day doing few things online that required me to write a little something about myself. I included "I'm a PhlegMel(Yes, I believe in temperaments)" after 're-looking' up the words in the dictionary to make sure they suited me. As I was to discover later that day, that was a wrong wrong thing to do. Immediately I stood from where I was sitting to do something else, some unfathomable changes took place. I couldn't even place a finger on what was wrong with me. That wasn't the first 100-0 feeling but it had never been that sharp.
I just went to my bed because I didn't want the 'What's wrong with you?' questions that'd only make me feel worse. I just kept rolling and rolling, thinking back to the period I was fine and then I remembered I was writing something. Fine! Something that'd make me feel better and as I was about to continue, the last sentence hit me "I'm a PhlegMel (Yes, I believe in temperaments)".
So basically, I allowed the melancholy part to ruin my day. Remember I said I looked up the words in the dictionary just to be extra sure? The phlegmatic part was fair enough but how exactly do you agree that you're "affected with great _sadness_ or _depression_?" Why on earth would someone agree that "feeling or expressing sadness especially when the sadness is like an illness" describes them and they believe in it? Need I say I felt really stupid afterwards?

I'm not trying to say all these temperaments thingy is wrong. I've read books on temperaments and they didn't paint the picture as bad. The description of the melancholy temperament is totally different.
So, I read the cruel words of the dictionary and through some unexplainable mental reactions, I acted melancholic for about *5* hours. Yes, it was that bad and I discarded the probability of it being a coincidence.
Like I already said, this isn't particularly the first time but this one was too Oh My Days that I had to share. Can you relate with the whole scenario? What should you do on such days?
- Think : What were you doing initially? Remember knowing the root of a problem is the first step to solving it.
- Listen to music : Not the melancholy kinda ones oh. See what I did there? Hahaha.
- Take a walk : This exercise would boost your morale and the beauty of nature will calm you.
- Read a book : You're going to have new images in your head.
- Sleep : This used to be my first alternative till it occurred to me that I was just running away from the inevitable.
- Pray : Because at the end of it all, you have no power of your own.
You're what you believe/say you are. Don't let any derogatory words and remarks get to you. Don't accept anyone's definition of yourself. CHOOSE POSITIVITY.

Have you gone through something similar?
I really want to know the other things you do on days like this. Please share with me.

I can't believe July is almost gone. This weather left me with no other option than to start the week with a jacket. The kinda weather that makes you want to sleep in an interesting class. Hope your week has been off to a good start. I'm sending you a love that's bigger than the one in the pictures above. xxx

  1. I love this.. This article taught me a great lesson on how to control temper.. Thanks laitan

    1. Thanks for reading! Glad
      you learnt something😊

  2. Hi Olaa,
Sometimes melancholy gets the best part of it too. I snap out of it by reminding myself that each day is a good day for a good day. I also take a moment to count my blessings and I realise that I am really blessed. I just don't see that all the time.
    May our days be brighter!

    1. Each day is a
      good day for
      a good day.
      So much Truth.

  3. I can totally relate to this and even though I don't know what my temperament is ( I'm taking a test on it now) I still assume it's an Aquarius thing. I bet your tips would be helpful

  4. Great article i should say...

Actually, i don't really think I'm "PhlegMel" but yes i do have 100-0 feeling.

Once am feeling like this what i do first is just sleep..
Its like a getaway from that feeling for that moment.

I learnt new word today "PhlegMel"

    1. The 100-0 feeling
      actually cuts
      across every
      temperament. Do
      you feel better
      when you wake up?
      Cause I don't. Still
      always grumpy.

  5. The 100-0 thing is me most days. The test thing says I'm melancholic but I've realised my 'mood swings' are mostly caused by people (I'm really not a social butterfly) so what I do is find one person I like and who has a lot of things in common with me and just stick to them
Or I go on my phone.

    1. I'm not much
      of a social
      butterfly too.
      Sticking with
      someone who
      makes you

  6. Great post dearie.

  7. Happens to me but over a period of time. Mine happens like I'm in a trance.

I read books. Best remedy for me.

    Mira La Belle blog

    1. Reading a book
      will definitely
      take you
      into a
      different world.

  8. i've never really checked out what temperament type i am although i found out my personality type recently and it was spot on! thanks for sharing. positivity is truly key.

  9. 100-0 and PhLegMe? (New words recorded)
I believe the mind is so powerful that it acts on what you says it is. When am down, i just listen to cool music or try todo some meditation stuff

    1. Yes, it does.
      Thank you for
      reading and

  10. I can totally relate to this because I'm really introverted. One minute I'm surrounded by people and it's perfect, the next I feel like I can't breath.
But I guess you just learn to live with the feeling or grow beyond it.

    1. Gosh, I can
      relate with
      the not
      being able
      to breathe
      I'm learning
      to live with it.

  11. I don't want to call you a witch 😂😂😂 but this is exactly how am feeling right now! Especially with my writer's block .
    Great post dear

  12. I can totally relate. I had this 100-0 yesterday and it was awful. Unlike you I can't read when I have that feeling, cause if I did I will sleep and leave the book. So, I simply fast forward to the sleep part or I simply play online scrabble.

    1. Oh yeah.. It's
      all about finding
      out what makes
      us feel better.
      Thanks for
      stopping by

  13. It happens to everyone at times. As for me I talk to someone in my family or a close friend and just try to get myself over it or better take a long nap and wake up refreshed. Like nothing ever happened.

    1. Yes, it does. Good to see you here. Thanks for sharing.

  14. I can totally relate. Yeah, i also believe in temperaments and I even carried out a project on the subject. This 100-0 thing pratically describes my life on a daily basis and yeah I've chosen not to allow anyone's definition rule my life. I choose to be positive always. Great post dear

    1. Oh wow, a
      project? Sounds
      interesting. Thanks

  15. I battle with depression so I totally know how you feel.. I take moments like these to indulge in some dark chocolate, too. I also found it helps when I'm surrounded with friends :)Thanks for sharing tips on how you deal with this feeling when it happens. :)

    1. Aww, sorry
      about that.
      I remember
      that dark
      chocolate works.
      Thank you for

  16. I used to have bouts of depression also. And your tips really work! Great post.

  17. Hy Ola....

It's temporal.... and a strong decision to get over it works for me. I sometimes take a walk.

  18. 100 to 0 describes mood swings perfectly. Lol

In my own case, I've observed that Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) affects my moods. Something to do with fluctuating hormones. Ah, the life of a woman.

Good food and a good book both keep me happy on such days.

    1. Happens to me too..
      The many things we
      can't control..
      Thanks for sharing.

  19. 100-0, the perfect tag for such situations, thing is at times like this I listen to music, but they make it worse cause I listen to even sadder music, lol but like they say pain does not last forever so eventually it passes.
Nice tips btw, I'll be sure to try them next time I find myself in such palava. Thanks dear flawless writing as always **wink

  20. I love this write up! Every detail was explained apt.
I've been away, but I'm back!
    Reading all posts I've missed

    1. You're baccck! Off to
      check your blog.
      Thanks dear :*

    2. You're baccck! Off to
      check your blog.
      Thanks dear :*

  21. Oh Laitan! I learnt a new word today, Phlegmel lol. Actually, I go through this phase too. Everything seems so good and Im happy and all of a sudden, I'm thrown into this rally bad mood that I can't describe. I usually choose to sleep through it and if it's a situation that I do not have the chance to sleep, I keep to myself as any conversation might turn into a heated argument.

    1. That's the feeling
      dear. Pretty
      annoying. I also
      tend to keep
      to myself
      when it

  22. I felt this way in school yday. Im a SanColMel so my moods waver constantly. I may be overtly excited this minute and sad the next.
I usually watch funny videos and remind myself why I need to be positive.

  23. Yes, this was such a constant feeling back in high school up until my first year @ the university but I really had to deal with it because it was creeping towards depression and it made me feel different(in a bad kind of way)

  24. I guess we all feel 100-0 sometimes
I like to rid myself of that feeling by doing things I enjoy or talking to my brothers or my four letter word.
    You look cute though

  25. OMG, I totally relate and what I always do is, listen to music and think of all the good times I have had rather than sad moments and then force a smile or a laugh out....

  26. Listening to music, taking a walk and praying works for me. On an especially bad day, doing all three works like a charm. It's dangerous to allow ourselves to be saddled with such tags. As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.... It's almost like our thoughts sends a kind of signal to the Universe and suddenly everything around us starts aligning with our thoughts. It's essential that we remember we have the power to think and thus shape our lives. God has given us the free will to do so. As humans we're so dynamic that we can't be boxed in at the end of the day.Nice post.

  27. Yhh.... I can truly relate.... Just recently, I read a book titled "who stole my joy"- Sandra Steen... It's quite a interesting piece as it gave insights as to how your Joy can work along side certain Joy robbers(rejection,Worry,pain..)as it was termed in the book.... At times when I find myself lost in detrimental thoughts Leading to a somewhat melancholy state....i call my self back to order, snap out of it as quickly as I can... Before it becomes a slippery slope.. I do some reflective thinking and put on a bright 😀 Just like that....P.s(still don't know the meaning)..😂... Why do people ask "Why are you Smiling "? Like its wrong... Shouldn't I ...😀😁

Wedding Day Thrills : 6 Things I Look Forward to & 3 That I Don't!

Hey guys, I've not posted in a while. Isn't it nice how that screams consistency? Lol jokes. I promise to do better. I was watching TV the other day and came across this 'It's my wedding' program that showcases all the activities couples go through in prep for their wedding day. I remember being insanely attracted to all the Ovation magazines with wedding pictures when I was way younger.  I was constantly devouring the pictures and you'd think I'd grow up to become a bridal consultant or something close. Life oh Life. My mantra has always been 'I'm looking forward to my wedding day and not exactly to marriage' but who am I deceiving? Lol. I think every girl has their wedding fantasy kept somewhere close for easy editing and all so I thought to share some of the reasons I'm looking forward to getting wedded. •  Pre-wedding shoot : Some years back, this wouldn't have been on the list but with all these beautiful and also hilariou

Quick Life Update : The Abusive Relationship I Am In

I trusted him completely but he broke my heart and still is in the business of breaking it. His promise to always be with me Everywhere I Go was alas a lie. He said that only to catch my attention and make me his. He gave me mouth-watering packages that offered me less for more but it turned out to be a façade. I'm tired and frustrated. I can't carry out my normal routine with all he's been doing. I trusted him just this once and he disappointed me. I never should have promoted him from the zone I placed him in initially. I remember all the times I heard people complain about theirs and I was always relieved I wasn't in their shoes but guess where I am now? I guess that's what life does. Sit in a corner and laugh at you. Nice job. He looks so attractive on the outside but deep down, there's nothing exciting about  him. A big fat façade. I miss the things I could have been doing if I hadn't made the mistake of trusting him too much. His favourite colour is

This thing called Fashion

I've read more than enough articles, posts, whatever and I'm still yet to come up with the word. The one defining my personal style. Simple & Conservative keeps popping up but sounds too cliché so nayyy. I'm naturally not fashion oriented . Yes , I said it. It's not a problem, never has been ; to me anyway. When I hear about how some babes spend virtually all they have just so they update their wardrobe and how they can't control it ehn, I get really thankful for how simple that part of my life is but sometimes I just want to go out of my comfort zone and take risks. Fashion risks. Imagine writing on Fashion risks worth taking and you're just there in shell, scared of venturing out. Because I was trying to adjust my hair and the sweetheart snapping me said pauseee. I can't just keep up with the constant need to make up outfit ideas. Some days, I see people, pictures and I'm just like hey, I should try that, just go for this colour instead
